About VASA...
VASA was formed in 1987 with approximately 25 members from the Department of Corrections and Youth Services (now Department of Juvenile Justice - DJJ). Today our membership has grown to over 300 members from several agencies under the Secretary of Public Safety umbrella.
Our Purpose:
- Promote general recognition of administrative support staff as a professional endeavor by enlisting the support of personnel in all phases of administrative support in a state-wide association.
- Promote retention and advancement of qualified professional personnel.
- Promote training for administrative support staff that will enhance their professional skills and personal growth.
- Promote and encourage cooperation and communication between all agencies under the Secretary of Public Safety.
Preamble to VASA Constitution
BELIEVING that it is beneficial to improve a service professionally, by associating in an organized group in pursuit of a common interest with its own self-contained administrative structure and functions, and believing that such an association can be an opportunity to strive for higher professional standards, we the members of the Virginia Administrative Support Association (VASA) resolve to unite in a common effort as stipulated in the constitution and by-laws.
